Question: I have an Apple TV and I want to watch Netflix from the UK - Is this possible?

Answer:

First off, the answer is yes!

Here are three easy steps:

Step 1: Get a VPN Service Provider

First you will need to get yourself a VPN (Virtual Private Network) service provider (www.VPNTelevision.com or www.accessunblockedvpn.com). The VPN service will give you an IP address in the United States - this is the critical ingredient to be able to access Netflix from abroad!

The Apple TV does not have an built in VPN client (as other Mac products do - like their laptops & computers, iPhones, iPads, iPods).

Step 2: Get a DD-RWT Compatiable Wi-Fi Router

So you will need to get yourself a DD-RWT compatible wireless Wi-Fi Internet router.

DD-RWT is software that allows the router to connect to the VPN service. Once setup, all of your router will have a US IP address and it will be as if you are located in the United States.

Step 3: Set your Router up with the Strong VPN settings

Set it up! I recommend you use StrongVPN as your VPN provider since they have AWESOME customer support in setting up VPN on internet routers

Step 4: Happy Days!

You will now be able to access WHAT EVER YOU WANT in the USA on any device in your home via wi-fi.

Now go get yourself a Netflix account and enjoy! Pick the option for Internet delivery (without mail DVDs)

* Netflix will say you need a valid US address. It does NOT have to be your OWN address!! Just find some US address from the Internet. You will be paying by Paypal so they WILL NOT verify the address to your Paypal account (as what happens in Credit Card transactions).

Getting Netflix on your PS3 without loosing your mind

ps3-netflix.jpg

PS3 owners will be pleased the know that their Netflix viewing by Internet experience will improve considerably on 18 October 2010.

First off, there will be no disc required and it will play 1080p resolution, with 5.1-channel surround audio on the way.

Now if your living outside the USA and reading this, your probably thinking how you can join the party and get Netflix on your sleek and shiny Sony PS3. As we all know Netflix and the other streaming media are not so welcoming to us non-American residing media/TV/media lovers. Yet, just last month Netflix introduced its streaming Internet services to Canada. I know that this isn't really groundbreaking news, as I think that it is ridiculous that this didn't happen a long time ago. It's just hard to believe that companies like Netflix just give the people of the world what they want - streaming Internet TV & Movies. Okay...enough messing around - let get down to business and work on getting you Netflix on your PS3 outside the USA.

Question: How can I watch TV and movies from HULU if I am outside the USA?

Many of the best media sites like Netflix, BBC iPlayer and Hulu check your IP address to verify if you are outside the United States - USA or United Kingdom - UK (if your are trying to watch BBC iPlayer).

If your IP address shows you are outside the respective county, they will BLOCK you from watching their videos.

I travel often outside the US and I had often thought about how I could change my IP address to an America one when abroad. I came across a website called Access Unblocked VPN that showed me how to do it. BAsically you will need a service called VPN (Virtual Private Network) that will allow you to get a new IP address in the US and UK.

The great thing about this is that it is simple and works!

Before using a VPN to overcome internet censorship, I knew that there were complicated ways to set up proxies to access BBC over the net. I needed the most simple solution that was possible.

Yet, I tried to use free proxies, but they just ended up being a waste of time since a proxy service is designed to cloak your identity and get around firewall at school or work. A Proxy server is not designed to allow you to watch free Online Internet TV like Netflix or Hulu.

I then tried some software like Hotspot Shield that also proved to be a complete wasted of time since HULU and Netflix immediately detected that I was outside the United States. So the verdict: Hotspot shield is USELESS!

I suggest that you check out Access Unblocked VPN as they have excellent tips and suggestions on how to watch your TV from anywhere in the world http://www.accessunblockedvpn.com
